Dracut, MA, home of the Middies, is part of Massachusetts's Middlesex County. As of the last census, the town population was 29,457. Dracut is a community belonging to Greater Lowell. Dracut has access to the LRTA, which connects the town to the Lowell train station and the MBTA commuter rail. The Veterans Memorial Park is located in Dracut and available for use by anyone in the community. Dracut has an elementary school, middle school, and high school.
Dracut is 28 miles north of Boston and is governed by an open town meeting with a five-member board. The residential community works hard to preserve its agricultural and historical space. Many residents of Dracut are very interested in volunteering and bettering their community.
Dracut has a multitude of recreational facilities that are used for youth sports as well as open to the community to run, walk, and bike, including the well-known Veterans Memorial Park.
The Lowell, Dracut, Tyngsborough State Forest is located in Tyngsborough but is used by members of all three communities for camping and water activities. The forest also offers ice-skating in the winter to keep the community active throughout the cold New England winters.
